Fitness Mistakes to Avoid – 5 Things I Wish I Knew
Hoping this video helps some of you out on your fitness journey. If I can help keep you from making the same mistakes, then my struggles are worth it all.
One way of starting your day right is making your bed early once you wake up. Research proves that making your bed at the start of your day gets you off to a great start to the day.
5 Things I Wish I Had Known Before Starting My Fitness Workout.
Advice #1: You don’t have to go through extremes.
When I got started I always thought you had to go through extremes for example you had really hone in on your calories and keep your calories extremely low, spending way too much time a the gym and live on a threadmill sweating all the time. This was not realistic and maintainable.
You can still have your cookies and eat some pizza and STILL be able to reach your fitness goals. I was to start all over again, I would always tell myself this is about a balanced lifestyle. Life is not normally lived in extremes.
A lot of women when they first starting out on their weight loss journey go through these extremes because of weight loss rules, fad diets and the latest fat loss craze. You don’t have to live on celery and a finger of carrots in order have the body of your dreams. I have done and my advice is have a balance.
Advice #2: People are going to have opinions about your body regardless of your size.
People will always talk about you and your body no matter how you look. The Internet have given almost everybody an avenue to talk about anyone however they want even when their lives are crapy. They may be couch potatoes eating Doritos and yet they pick your life apart as you try to do something productive with your life, reach goals in your life.
You can be overweight, trying to lose a few pounds or be simple a lean bean and people will still have something wrong to say about you. So ignore all the naysayers and go for your goals. Always know why you started this journey in the first place. You started it for yourself. Not for your mum, dad, kids, your spouse. It was for YOU. You want to feel great in your own body.
Know that you’re going to lose friends and not everybody will be comfortable with you wanting to be better version of you. That is just the cold hard truth.
Advice #3: Waist trainers and skinny teas don’t work.
Skinny teas is one of the detox craze that has been going around for quite some time now. It has never worked for me and if you really wanted something that would flush out your system, you could literally go to the store and get a $3 tea will help you do just that and save yourself some money. The fact that people are spending 100s of dollars on these skinny tea products that promise to help you lose 10lbs overnight is not my thing.
Waist trainers also do not work. The fact that you have wear these trainers whilst doing cardio is not a good combination. You feel like you’re crashing your organs and that is exactly what you’re doing. You can’t even breathe because you’re working out.
Save your money and stick to a healthy balanced consistent diet and it can be amazing what you can do with the food that you put in your body.
Advice #4: Not all fitness journeys are the same.
One fitness program or dieting can’t be the one-size fits all. There’s intermittent fasting, intuitive eating, flexible dieting, plant-based eating, weight lifting, running, spinning, biking. There are so many options out there. Just because you’re following me on social media and I’m into a particular diet does not mean it will work for you.
Just because your fitness influencer is following on vegan diet and runs a lot and is having a great body to show for it does not mean you have to become a vegan and run a lot too. If you don’t like running, don’t run. My point is just because you see your fitness icon, role model or whatever the case may be does not mean you do the same. If you want to try the vegan lifestyle out, great! Go ahead. Just workout and find your program that will work for you.
Advice #5: It’s okay to miss a workout because life gets in the way sometimes.
I love consistency in everything I do. But if you miss the gym one day or eat something that you’re not to eat on an occasion, it’s okay. Don’t too hard on yourself and feel like you’re going to lose all your progress and not reach your goal. Find your happy medium and find a balance between working out and resting. Your body needs resting so rest and get back to going to the gym when the next opportunity comes around.
I hope that these 5 tips would help you in your daily workout to reach your fitness goals. If you find it useful, please share. You may never know whom it will help. Thank you.
